Carole C. Weaver Candidate
Rensselaer County Legislator
District 1- Troy
Making a Difference
Meet the Candidate!
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
I am a hard-working, self-starter who is resourceful, creative and solution-oriented constantly seeking new and innovative approaches to solving problems.
I have put my hat in the ring to run for this democratically filled seat to help expand adult and youth recreation opportunities in Troy; Foster greater resource sharing among local municipalities to save tax dollars and promote operating efficiencies and provide accessible and responsive constituent service.
PERSONAL
I have worked over 37 years for the State of New York within the criminal justice umbrella. I worked my way up the ranks and retired as an Assistant Public Information Officer for the Board of Parole. Throughout those years, I have dealt with victims of crime, spoken to parents of felons, discussed goals and objectives with County Probation Departments statewide regarding their drug treatment programs for alternatives to incarceration.
I was a past President of CSEA Local 668 (NYS Probation & Correctional Alternatives) as well as shop steward (NYS Division of Parole). I retired in 2014.
Since retirement, I became the City of Troy Democratic Chairwoman and with great support we were able to take back the majority of the Troy City Council. I have since resigned from that position to run for office. I currently hold the 2nd Vice Chair position for the Rensselaer County Democratic Committee.

The Issues At Hand
Time for Change
Although the County does not have a vote on city issues, I have a great rapport with the current administration. As your legislator, I will be your voice bringing your issues and concerns to the county administration to investigate and solve problems. I am prepared to connect with Troy residents and work collectively with Congressman Paul Tonko, New York Senator Neil Breslin and New York Assemblyman John McDonald to make Troy a better place to live.
Accountability
I believe elected government officials should be accountable to the people they represent. We should be actively working to reach out to the people that we represent and are working to help. We should strive to create government that works for all → people shouldn’t be waiting for vital services. They deserve a prompt response. Therefore, I would like to improve communication and efficiency so that residents of the city and county have knowledge of and access to the vital services that they need.

Words to live by....
As John F. Kennedy said… “Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the Right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.”
